Does Amerus send my information to an outside AI?
No. Amerus is designed to run its AI locally on your device. Your Amerus conversations and information are not sent to an outside AI model. Information leaves only when you intentionally use a feature that sends, shares or retrieves something outside your computer.
Does Amerus work without the internet?
Yes. Amerus’s local AI, Memory, Vault, documents and locally stored knowledge are designed to work without an internet connection. Internet access is needed only for things that require the outside world, such as retrieving online information or using connected services.
Can I use Amerus for sensitive information?
That is a central reason Amerus is local. Your personal information stays on your device rather than being sent to an outside AI model, making Amerus designed for personal, business and other sensitive matters.
What does Always Ready mean?
Amerus lives on your device, so your personal intelligence goes where your computer goes. It remains available online or offline, as long as your device has power.
What does Amerus cost?
Amerus is free for 30 days. After that it is a one-time purchase of $199 and the licence does not expire — there is no monthly subscription and no annual fee required. Your purchase includes 12 months of every new feature and upgrade released in that time.
What happens after the first 12 months?
Your Amerus keeps working, exactly as it is. If you want to keep receiving new features, improved AI models and major new versions, Amerus Upgrades is $59 a year — and it is completely optional. If you don’t renew, nothing shuts off. You can always upgrade again later.
Is this a subscription?
No. You buy Amerus once. The optional $59/year Amerus Upgrades plan is the only recurring thing on offer, and stopping it does not disable the software you own.
Do you take my credit card?
No. No payment details are collected on this website. When your 30-day trial ends, Amerus LLC emails you an invoice for the one-time $199 purchase. There is no card on file and no recurring charge.
Why do I have to register to download it?
Registration gives Amerus LLC the name and email needed to send your download, service and security notices, and the single invoice when the trial ends. It also records your acceptance of the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. That information is Amerus Business Information, not User Content — nothing you later do inside Amerus is sent back.
What if you release a brand new Amerus product?
New Amerus products, services or specialized editions that are separate from the Amerus you purchased may be offered separately and may have their own pricing. But improvements to your Amerus — new features, capabilities, AI models and major versions — are included while your upgrade coverage is active.
Which Macs can run Amerus?
Any Mac with an Apple silicon chip — M1, M2, M3, M4 or later — running macOS 14 Sonoma or later. That covers the MacBook Air from 2020 onwards, the MacBook Pro from 2020-2021 onwards, the Mac mini from 2020, the 24-inch iMac from 2021, and every Mac Studio and Apple silicon Mac Pro. Intel Macs are not supported.
How much memory and disk space does it need?
8 GB of memory works; 16 GB is recommended and lets Amerus run a stronger model. Allow about 6 GB of free disk space for the application, the AI engine and the models, plus room for whatever you add to the Vault. Full detail is on the System Requirements page.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no Amerus account to create and no sign-in to an Amerus service. You install it on your Mac and it is yours.
Where is my information actually stored?
In a folder on your own Mac, alongside the app’s database. Documents, memories and conversations are encrypted at rest. Files you connect from elsewhere on your Mac or in iCloud Drive stay exactly where they already were — Amerus indexes them in place and never moves or copies them.
What can I connect to Amerus?
Folders on your Mac, folders in iCloud Drive, Google Drive, Gmail, and an Apple Health export from your iPhone. Each is a separate Connection you set up deliberately, and you choose what gets synced from it.
Can more than one person use the same Mac?
Yes. One installation supports several profiles, each with its own conversations, memories and documents, optionally protected by a PIN. Amerus always opens at a profile picker, and a document can be private, shared with specific profiles, or available to everyone on that Mac.
How does Amerus know things about my documents?
You add documents to the Vault or connect a folder, and Amerus reads and indexes them locally so it can search and reason across them. When it answers, it can cite the source — click a citation and the document opens at the page or paragraph the answer came from.
Can I move Amerus to a new Mac?
Yes. Amerus can export everything — documents, memories and conversations — into a single password-protected file, and import it on the new machine. You set the password, and only that password can open it.
Can I delete what Amerus knows?
Yes, at any time. Individual memories, individual documents, whole conversations or an entire profile can be removed. Excluding a connected file stops Amerus using it without touching the original file.
Is Amerus a cloud AI with an offline mode?
No. It is personal AI designed to live locally. Online Connections extend what Amerus can reach; they do not define where Amerus lives.
